Hi. I'm betaveros. Professionally, I do interpretability research on machine learning models. Nonprofessionally, I solve and write puzzlehunt puzzles, play mystery visual novels, and do weird things with code. Sometimes I'm a dragon on the internet or, more rarely, in real life. Unfortunately none of these observations are particularly helpful for understanding what's going on here.
Instead, a story: around the time I got into bearblog there was a post sort of complaining that a lot of blog posts were about elementary-school moral epiphanies, like "other people have feelings too". I don't think it was even that unfair, but apparently, it sparked so much discussion that the author deleted it.
I'm part of the problem; I still think about that post.
Regretfully, I'm a bit past elementary school.
