live like you're dying

not literally because you'd quit your job, spend all your money on hedonistic pleasures, eat the unhealthiest foods and do the nastiest drugs, and then if you didn't die you'd be bankrupt with a fucked up body and brain. but you know, if there's something you'd regret not doing today if you died tomorrow, and wouldn't regret doing if you lived much longer, perhaps do it today? repeat for this week, this month, this year, five years?

this is all very clichéd, I feel like the 12-year-old on tumblr I referenced from somebody else's post a while back writing it. nevertheless.

I have been told a five-year survival percentage for a disease I've had in the past. it wasn't that low but it wasn't 100%. I made it through. I would like to say that that experience gave me a profound, evergreen appreciation for life, but that's only very occasionally true, and I need to take time to reflect and remember for it to come back up.

I do think I've been keeping my list of things I'd regret not having done pretty short, but there's always more.
